Katie Severns Design is a boutique residential interior design studio located in the San Francisco Bay Area. We specialize in creating elevated, design-forward and beautifully functional spaces for families at all stages.
The KSD aesthetic leans minimalist but inviting, and always thoughtfully layered with a focus on natural materials, heritage textiles and artisan decor. Entering a space we've designed should always make you feel a sense of familiarity and calm.
Taking a tailored approach to each project, we mix vintage with new, incorporate custom details and source one-of-a-kind found pieces for a collected, lived-in feel. Our homes reflect each of our clients' unique lifestyles, refining the aesthetics and functionality to make every day beautiful.

Drawing on her 15+ years of experience leading buying and merchandising for iconic apparel and home brands, Katie takes a highly personalized and curated approach to designing spaces that surprise and delight her clients. With an efficient and detailed process, well-trained eye, and innate talent for finding the perfect finishing touches, she delivers a seamless experience full of collaboration and inspiration from start to finish.

A Northern California native, Katie finds endless inspiration in the natural beauty of the region. As a mom of two, she is passionate about creating homes where busy families can breathe and incorporate a sense of ease and connection into every day. Her style has been described as “California slow living meets elevated, modern design.” In her downtime she loves getting outdoors, practicing yoga + meditation, and entertaining at home (her cooking skills are...a work in progress but she pours a great glass of wine)!
